"Daughter of a King"

This young girl's face shows that she knows who she is.
She is the daughter of a King, and she has the crown to prove it!
She is looking up with confidence because she is a child of God.
When I was trying to figure out what to put in the background of this painting,
the idea of a gate came to my mind.  I thought it was perfect, because of all it can symbolize.
Since I live in Fillmore, UT, I figured I needed to do a painting of the historical
Territorial Statehouse.  I decided it would be neater if I painted it as it would have been
just after it was completed.  I added in Brigham Young and a horse carriage as well.

This oil painting titled "Hands Full of Love" is of my daughter Ayla.
I love when I get a good likeness of the person, but it still looks like a painting!
I entered this painting in a local art show, and it actually won best of show!

This is an oil painting of my son, Mason.  The picture that I used as reference
was taken when he was about 8 yrs. old.  He was playing with the puppies of our dog, Tootsie.
This moment could not have been more perfectly captured!
The first thing that I painted was the puppy that he is holding.
I kept telling my family to come and see how cute it was!
I am continually becoming more comfortable with oil paint, and am enjoying it!
I figure I might as well paint things that I want to keep while I am practicing.
This painting is the first of a project to "redecorate" my front room.

Oil Painting of Marty and Cortney as Kids with the Trail 90 Motorcycle

This is an oil painting of myself and my husband as children.
We didn't really know each other back then, but I thought it was
a fun way of painting us together.  I was very pleased when I found
a picture of my husband standing by his dad's Trail 90, because we
actually have the motorcycle now.  I had a picture of myself leaning against
a snowman, which I was able to manipulate and use.  I actually used five or six
photos for this painting, like putting different faces on the bodies, etc.
I am happy with how it turned out!

I was again working on my oil painting techniques, especially working on skin tone.
Also, I wanted to create a feeling with this painting.  My goal was not to copy exactly from real life.
I wanted to show that aging and loss is sometimes hard, but there can always be hope.

Painting is always fun for me, but occasionally it is even more fun!
I was experimenting with some different techniques while doing this oil painting
of a girl playing the violin.
I am pleased with how it turned out.

I completed my fourth oil painting of my children in their blessing outfits.

When Caislee was a baby, she would blow bubbles with her mouth.
I'm glad I was able to capture that in the painting.

I have two more oil paintings completed in the series of my children on their blessing days.
The top one is Ayla and the bottom one is Aubree.  All of my girls wore the dress that my
Grandma Braegger made.  So since they won't each be able to keep the dress,
I am glad that they will eventually get to keep a painting.
